It is an essential part of ‘anti-aging’ skincare that has been extensively researched.

What are its benefits?

It is an excellent anti-aging agent as it increases collagen production. It’s a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin from the harmful effects of free radicals. By reducing melanin synthesis, it diminishes pigmentation and balances skin tone.

There are many products available on the market. So, which one should we choose?

The most active form and the one with the most scientific evidence is L-ascorbic acid.

This form is commonly found in serums.

Stabilizing this form in cosmetic products is quite challenging. It oxidizes upon exposure to light and air.

The addition of ferulic acid lowers the pH and facilitates absorption.

Adding vitamin E enhances its effectiveness.

Studies suggest that a concentration of 10-20% is recommended for efficacy.

While the likelihood of irritation and triggering acne formation is rare, these are some of the side effects we occasionally observe.
